Introducing Canvas

First-time login

1. In a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.), go to canvas.ngu.edu.
2. Sign in with your Microsoft SSO credentials (NGU email, password, MFA method).
   • If you experience issues signing in with your NGU account, contact ITS.
3. The first time you sign into Canvas, you will be prompted to read and agree to the Acceptable Use Policy.

Canvas dashboard

The first page you will see when signing into Canvas is the dashboard, which shows your courses, upcoming dates, and links to other sections in Canvas.

Your dashboard may be blank (like the screenshot below). Courses will appear in your dashboard once you've been assigned a role in a course. 

• If your dashboard is blank but you are in an active course and you believe there should be courses here, contact the Registrar Office.

When can I access my courses?

Course access varies by term.

• Summer 2026 - CAPS Term 1 - May 25 to July 19, with access beginning on May 18
• Summer 2026 - GRAD Term 1 - May 25 to July 19, with access beginning on May 18
• Summer 2026 - Traditional Full Term - May 18 to August 9, with access beginning on May 11
• Summer 2026 - GRAD Full Term - May 18 to August 9, with access beginning on May 11
• Summer 2026 - May 11 to August 9, with access beginning on May 11
• Summer 2026 - Physician Assistant Full Term - May 11 to August 9, with access beginning on May 4

My courses don't look right

Contact Registrar. Changes made by Registrar could take up to two hours to reflect in Canvas.
