IT Services Help Desk (864) 977-7272 Submit a Device Request

Updated: 6/10/25

Program Eligibility

Eligible participants for the Mobile Device Program include NGU staff members whose department Vice Presidents (VPs) have determined that cellular devices are essential for their roles.

Device Requests

An employee's initial device request requires written VP approval.

Employees currently participating in the Mobile Device Program do not require VP approval to request a device upgrade. They may submit a new device request for themselves via the Mobile Device Program service request.

Number Porting

Program participants can port existing phone numbers in by submitting a Number Port Request, excluding Admissions or Academics due to the nature of these positions.

If you are an existing participant and would like to port your number out, contact IT Services directly with this request.

Device Requests for Family Members

Only VPs and AVPs are authorized to request a mobile line for a family member. Payment for these requests will be made directly to the NGU Business Office by the VP or AVP.

Device Upgrade Cycle

Participants in the program are eligible for device upgrades at standard pricing once every two years.

If you are interested in early upgrade pricing, please contact IT Services.

Data Plan

Devices provided through the employee plan include unlimited domestic data, including unlimited hotspot usage.

International Data Plan

AT&T's International Day Pass is available upon request and supervisor approval. This provides a number with unlimited data for $12/day internationally or $20/day on a cruise. If a user is traveling out of country or going on a cruise and needs cellular data, they must obtain approval from their supervisor and discuss who (the employee or department) will cover the cost of the data plans. A supervisor must communicate approval and cost responsibility with IT Services directly in writing.

The user is responsible for verifying that the destination country/countries and/or cruise ships are covered by the AT&T International Day Pass.

See more information about the International Day Pass, including covered countries and cruise ships, here.

Available Devices

Only iPhones are available through the program. There are free phones and phones available to purchase at the user's expense. View available devices here.

All purchases must go through the NGU Business Office as one payment. Directions for device purchases are here.

Data Backup

NGU IT Services is not responsible for backing up data from mobile devices. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that all necessary data is backed up and securely stored prior to device upgrades or changes.

Old Devices

Upon upgrading your device, you may keep your old phone for personal use. Each device is subject to a two-year carrier lock, restricting its use to AT&T’s network for the first two years after activation. If you wish to unlock your device after this period, you may submit a carrier unlock request through AT&T Device Unlock.
