Overview

Disabling pop-up blockers is a straightforward process, and each browser provides options to allow pop-ups across the board or only on certain trusted sites. Keep this guide handy whenever you need to access pop-ups temporarily, and remember to re-enable the blocker afterward to keep your browsing secure.

How to Disable Pop-Up Blockers in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and click the three dots in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
  3. Scroll down to Privacy and security and select Site settings.
  4. Under Content, choose Pop-ups and redirects.
  5. Toggle the switch to Allow pop-ups on all sites, or if you prefer, add specific sites under Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects.
  • Tip: To re-enable the pop-up blocker, return to this menu and toggle the switch back.

Safari (Mac and iOS)

  1. Open Safari and go to Safari > Preferences.
  2. Select the Websites tab, then scroll down to Pop-up Windows on the left sidebar.
  3. Next to the site you want to allow pop-ups for, select Allow from the dropdown menu. To disable pop-up blocking on all sites, choose Allow for all listed sites.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox and click the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
  3. Navigate to the Privacy & Security panel on the left.
  4. Scroll down to Permissions, then uncheck the Block pop-up windows box to allow all pop-ups.
  • Note: You can add exceptions by clicking Exceptions… next to the checkbox and entering specific sites that should allow pop-ups.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge and click the three dots in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings from the menu.
  3. In the left sidebar, click on Cookies and site permissions.
  4. Scroll down to Pop-ups and redirects.
  5. Toggle the switch to Allow pop-ups, or add specific sites under Allowed if you only want to allow pop-ups on certain sites.
  • Reminder: To re-enable the pop-up blocker, simply toggle this switch back.
