Clearing Browser Cache

Overview

If a website is not working as expected, clearing browser cache is an easy way to troubleshoot. This removes saved versions of website, forgets cached (saved) website data, and can improve browsing speed.

Clear Cache

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner (More).
  3. Select More tools > Clear browsing data.
  4. In the dialog box, choose a time range (e.g., Last hour, Last 24 hours, All time).
  5. Check the box next to Cached images and files.
  6. Click Clear data.

Apple Safari (Mac)

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click on Safari in the top menu bar, then select Preferences.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab and check the box for Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  4. Close Preferences and click on Develop in the menu bar.
  5. Select Empty Caches.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click on the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner (Menu).
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Go to the Privacy & Security panel.
  5. Scroll down to the Cookies and Site Data section.
  6. Click on Clear Data.
  7. Check the box next to Cached Web Content and click Clear.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner (Settings and more).
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click on Privacy, search, and services.
  5. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
  6. Select a time range, check the box next to Cached images and files, and click Clear now.
