Audience: Full-time NGU faculty and staff that have an Avaya desk phone in their office.

Description: Directions for setting Avaya desk phone voicemail password and greeting on campus.

Environment: Avaya desk phone

On Campus Setup

Set Voicemail Password

  1. Press the message (envelope) button to access the new messaging menu.
  2. Enter the default password 2580.
  3. The messaging assistant will ask for a new 4-20 digit password. You will use this password whenever you access the phone's messaging menu.

Setting Voicemail Greeting

  1. After setting your new password, the system will prompt you to set up a greeting.
  2. Follow the voice assistant by pressing 2 to record a new voicemail greeting.
  3. After you have recorded a greeting, press 1 to set this as the new greeting.

Listening To and Deleting Messages

  1. After your voicemail password and greeting are set, press the message (envelope) button, and enter your password.
  2. The voice assistant will provide menu options:
    • Press 2 to listen to messages.
    • Press 3 to delete a message during or after playback.
